Position Overview
We are seeking a Senior Staff Accountant to support the financial operations of multiple hotel properties. This role is responsible for cash management, revenue recording, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and month-end close. The Senior Staff Accountant will partner closely with property teams, General Managers, and leadership to ensure timely, accurate, and compliant financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities
Cash Management
- Record daily credit card and cash deposits in M3
- Reconcile all bank accounts daily
- Prepare and submit weekly cash flow statements to the CFO
Income Journal
- Prepare, review, and post the daily income journal
- Complete daily tax reconciliations in ProfitSword
- Communicate with property teams to address variances and correct posting errors
Accounts Receivable
- Monitor AR ledgers including direct bill, group, and house accounts
- Ensure adherence to AR procedures (billing, posting accuracy, collections)
- Verify invoices for guest stays, group events, and catering functions are issued within 72 hours of checkout/event completion
Accounts Payable
- Record vendor invoices in M3
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies
Month-End Close
- Ensure timely submission of property month-end deliverables
- Review and validate inventory counts
- Record month-end journal entries and complete all balance sheet reconciliations
- Review monthly P&L with General Managers and provide variance explanations
Additional Responsibilities
- Review weekly payroll registers prior to submission
- Assist in external audits, including preparation of schedules and analyses
- File state and local occupancy and sales/use tax returns
- Support accounting for additional properties as assigned
- Provide guidance and mentorship to Staff Accountants
- Recommend and implement new SOPs to improve accounting workflows
- Assist with ad hoc projects, system implementations, and management requests
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required
- 3-5+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting
- Experience with month-end close and balance sheet reconciliations
- Proficiency with accounting systems and advanced Excel
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities
- Experience in hospitality, real estate, or multi-location operations preferred
- Familiarity with ERP systems and financial reporting tools
